Third Madrid title!

13.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger captured a third title in Madrid after defeating Tomas Berdych 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the final. It is Roger's 74th title overall on the ATP Tour!

"It is amazing to win here again," said Roger. "It has been a tough tournament. Tough to move, but you've got to try to make the most of it. Here there was some good tennis and some bad tennis, but you see that in all tournaments."

It was a rough, windy road to Roger's fourth title of the 2012 season. After ups and downs in the first two set, Roger had to save himself from 0:30 down several times, but eventually breaking Berdych to take a 5-3 lead. But the Czech came back with a break right away and Roger made use of the very last chance for a break to wrap up the match after 2 hours 36.

Roger now counts 20 career Masters titles, tying him with Rafael Nadal for the most all-time. Furthermore, our champ will overtake Nadal for No. 2 in the world as of tomorrow.

Congratulations Roger, and what a bonus for me that I was able to watch the final early Monday morning (Aust time) before going to work. Well done and am really looking forward to seeing more exciting challenges for you in the upcoming games. Uncertain from the reports out there whether you will be at Rome but hope your team of physical trainers can get your body in tip top condition. Well done again Roger, and thank you for the awesome display in the final. In Health and Happiness!

I may sound like a critic but i put forth the facts

Roger Struggled against Berdych becoz he was returning well and was serving well.
The moment that happened Roger's serve dropped badly, so i think this is ur weakness if some one returns well enough u r vulnerable
I think these r all rat races but if u really want to win GS u need to beat the likes of Djok and Nadal which seems quite impossible at the moment they way u r playing :(

hi... Roger...glad to read that you will listen to your body about Rome...it is not worth it to injure yourself before the slams and the Olympics...I think those might be higher priority for you than a ranking...the world knows how amazing you are without a number to tell us...please take care of yourself...love you forever!
