Third Madrid title!

Roger captured a third title in Madrid after defeating Tomas Berdych 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the final. It is Roger's 74th title overall on the ATP Tour!

 

"It is amazing to win here again," said Roger. "It has been a tough tournament. Tough to move, but you've got to try to make the most of it. Here there was some good tennis and some bad tennis, but you see that in all tournaments."

It was a rough, windy road to Roger's fourth title of the 2012 season. After ups and downs in the first two set, Roger had to save himself from 0:30 down several times, but eventually breaking Berdych to take a 5-3 lead. But the Czech came back with a break right away and Roger made use of the very last chance for a break to wrap up the match after 2 hours 36.

Roger now counts 20 career Masters titles, tying him with Rafael Nadal for the most all-time. Furthermore, our champ will overtake Nadal for No. 2 in the world as of tomorrow.

...and I forgot to say:
1. Roger and Mirka, your daughters are ADORABLE! Absolutley precious!! Hope to see them again at another tournament cheering Dad on.
B. Take care of yourself after this win...no record or imaginary mark is worth your wellness and enjoyment of the game.
- It still irks me that Djoker and Nadal threw such fits in Madrid and aren't getting called on it. How would they explain the extremely high quality of that final?!? Ughh.

It was a pity that I could not watch your match against Berdych live. Although I was only looking at the live scores on the ATP website, I felt so anxious after you lost the first set and had trouble closing out the second.

Anyways, cheers to your victory at the Madrid Masters! It was a strong statement to Nole and Rafa that a true champion does not complain about circumstances but simply plays through them.

Regardless of clay color, you deserve to be the champion!

When you have a faith in someone who have confirmed that faithfulness to you, when you trust someone who was able to act trustfully, when you admire a way of someone who tends to amuse himself & you using that way...when above happens it will no doubt be I & Roger...Welcome back to the staircase using no 2 seat to get to to no.1 soon, I do congratulate myself that you have won.
I never love tennis moreover I love the way you play & that tennis to me means you.
