Roger rushes into the next |round

Roger moved into the next round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Carlos Berlocq today.

Roger started perfectly by winning 12 out of the first 13 points, securing the first set. In the second set, Berlocq came back from a break down right away but our champ fought back immediately to secure another break and hold the lead. After only 69 minutes Roger converted his first matchball to win his first match in Rome this year.

Next up is Juan Carlos Ferrero (ATP 47), a former Rome champion (2001), on Thursday.

Roger, thanks for the wonderful tennis. It's so nice to c u play after that long month off.watching u play in Madrid and now Rome is a pleasure. Ur confidence shows. There is no hesitation in ur game and it's just amazing to watch. I'm really impressed with the backhand. It has become quite a weapon. Hope u had enuf rest between Madrid and Rome. U know ur body. We want to c u healthy always. Gripe fully u can get some rest after Rome. All the best against seppi 2 morrow

Well done for tonight Roger, looked pretty chillly in Rome I thought, not to your taste at all, hope you're still feeling good after 3 sets. Juan Carlos seems a really nice guy so I wouldn't have been totally upset if he'd managed to pull off the upset especially as he's older than you! Onwards and upwards, keep the Fed Express rolling!!
