Quarters in Rome

18.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger won his second round match against Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 today to reach the quarter-finals in Rome.

Roger managed his first break in the opening set in game number 6. After that, it was a one-sided show in favour of our champion. But after clearly taking the first set, Roger faced a more aggressive Ferrero in the second, as Roger lost a bit of his sharpness and committig a string of unforced errors in the midsection of the set. The two players held serve until the Spaniard finally broke to move 6-5 up and later take the set. Roger then flipped the swith for the decider, grabbing a break in the second game and another one in game number six to book his spot in the round of the last eight.

Roger will play Andrea Seppi in tomorrow's quarter final.

Well done! I watched the match on TV and you played great.
Today, Sepi got a sounding victory against Stan Wawrinka after a good match and tons of support from its crowd.
Go and get him, Roger!

Congrats Roger!
Great display of your immense talent. Ferrero was a tough opponent and didn't want to let go, but eventually you prevailed. Yesterday's match was nice to watch too.
Dear Roger a huge bravo about your title in Madrid, i was so happy for you - and for tennis. You played absolutly great ! Great fights and greats wins ! A true legend ...You have everything it takes to win. What i like particurlarly about you is how smart, clever you are, the right word in French being "intelligent"

Congrats Roger !

Why is Roger still playing Rome ? Hd lost in this round last year....so would not have made any points difference.
I am sure he is NOT playing Djoker in semi. He is the best judge but i feel he shd come out & plan for FO / Wimbledon. Djoker/Tsonga match ahead of his tomorrow - if Djoker wins, he shd lose to Seppi, else he may attempt beating tired Seppi and lose to Tsonga.
Wishing Roger all the best for the next crucial 3 months of tennis.
