Roger breezes into semis

18.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger powered past Andreas Seppi today, winning the quarter-final in Rome 6-1, 6-2.

Roger ended the crowd favourite's dream run to the quarter finals with a superb display. It took him just 19 minutes to take the opening set. Seppi started the second set stronger but Roger continued to dominate play and had no problems wrapping up the match thanks to a total of 25 winners and 4 breaks. He won 81% of the points on his first serve, proving he is in great shape.

Roger set up a semi-final encounter with Novak Djokovic. It is the first time that the two meet since their epic encounter last year at the US Open.

"Roger ended the crowd favourite's dream run" : well said ! The Roman crowd was a true fury against Stan and needed a good cold shower. You did it and that's well. Now Djoko... I'm sure you will win. All the best for tonight !
