Roger breezes into semis

Roger powered past Andreas Seppi today, winning the quarter-final in Rome 6-1, 6-2.

Roger ended the crowd favourite's dream run to the quarter finals with a superb display. It took him just 19 minutes to take the opening set. Seppi started the second set stronger but Roger continued to dominate play and had no problems wrapping up the match thanks to a total of 25 winners and 4 breaks. He won 81% of the points on his first serve, proving he is in great shape.

Roger set up a semi-final encounter with Novak Djokovic. It is the first time that the two meet since their epic encounter last year at the US Open.

Just hoping for the silver lining for tonight's cloud - that Novak beats Nadal tomorrow so that Roger is ranked No.2 at Roland Garros which is far more important in the long term. Hope the loss of first serves isn't indicative of something grim in Roger's physical status (as it was in Doha against Seppi this year prior to withdrawing). Anyway TMF you've had a great week and get ready for the French tournament. Lots and lots of love to, your family and team. GO ROGER!! xxxx

Good effort at the end Rogi, you showed a bit of fight. Shame you could not quite pull it off. Beat him at Wimby and the Olympics and I will be happy, those are the important ones. Better luck next time!

It is ok federer san. U are still no. 2 now. hope nole wins tomorrow then u will still be no. 2 going into RG and well rested. u have already bypass this year's expectation. no one can win everything. so this is a good loss. let them fight it out tomorrow. hope it is another 6 hours match. for the first time I shall be praying for joker to win. Love u
