Stopped by Djokovic

19.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger's quest for back-to-back claycourt titles was ended by a 2-6, 6-7(4) defeat in the semi-final in Rome against Novak Djokovic.

Roger was broken twice in the opening set in their first encounter since the US Open last year. Roger was constantly under pressure and could not keep up with Djokovic's pace in the rallies. After falling a break back in the second set as well, Roger started to play more aggressively, varying his game and broke back after saving a match point. But in the following tie-break, Djokovic made the crucial points to win the match and book a spot in the final against Rafael Nadal.

Roger! Sampras has said that he has not seen any decline in Roger Federer’s game.
He believe you will get more Grand Slams titles. He said I would just sit here being impressed at what Roger’s been able to do.”
Let's go RF!
Show your strongest power in French Open

great tourney, considering you didn't know if you would play at all. fantastic year so far. thanks for all the beautiful tennis you have played. we as fans have enjoyed so much watching you collect many titles. it has been great. we even got to see the twins court side and a mirka kiss. losses will come, but you have had so many titles since USO. so, many thanks for all you've given us. good luck for roland garros. many kisses to your 3 girls.

Roger, hit the ball to baseline corners rather than waiting for their error by simply returning ...as they took it an advance. I believe you can shoot where you want to .

All the best KING!!!

Roger, you have played really well so far this year. I don't think you played 100% (or 90%) with Djoke at Rome, for tactical reasons. Anyway, stay healthy and fresh and wish you good draw at FO.

Remember when RN was defeated by our Champ at QF of Indian Wells (hard court), he said he was then troubled by his so called knee injury and accordingly not 100% fit; when he was defeated by Vadarsco in Madrid (blue clay), it's because the blue clay was not real clay, it's too slippery. Maybe our Champ is indeed not as best as RN in red clay, but Roger never finds any pretext. I prefer Roger be No.3 before Roland Garros, he may meet ND at semi and get the revenge.

i always have a bad day when you lose a match a specially when you lose to ND or RN so come on and beat the shit out of them in paris!

I agree with JUNGLECAT.
My big wish is that you beat Nadal and Djokovic in Paris. Last year you did not succeed, unfortunately. You might succeed this year.
Regardless of the results and ranking, I'll be your fan forever.
Best of luck, Roger.
