Stopped by Djokovic

Roger's quest for back-to-back claycourt titles was ended by a 2-6, 6-7(4) defeat in the semi-final in Rome against Novak Djokovic.

Roger was broken twice in the opening set in their first encounter since the US Open last year. Roger was constantly under pressure and could not keep up with Djokovic's pace in the rallies. After falling a break back in the second set as well, Roger started to play more aggressively, varying his game and broke back after saving a match point. But in the following tie-break, Djokovic made the crucial points to win the match and book a spot in the final against Rafael Nadal.

MORE COMMENTS ON NEW RANKING POINTS: I think I've figured it out - they have added the points the players won at this tournament, but NOT deducted the points that they'd earned last year. So, Djokovic should have 1,000 points less, Nadal should have 600 points less, and Federer should have 90 points less. (The best example is Djokovic - no way should he have gained 600 points when he lost 400 points compared to the 1000 points you get when winning (600 pts for being finalist).

THAT'S THE GREATNESS OF ROGER FEDERER, AND STICK TO YOUR GUN (YOUR CRISPY CURVED SERVE), AND MOST OF ALL, DON'T MAKE UNFORCED ERRORS. YOU RUINED YOURSELF THE LAST YEAR WITH THEM. DON'T MESS YOUR WONDERFUL GAME AGAIN LIKE THAT. BEST OF LUCK. TRY DIFFERENT THINGS EVERY TIME!!!

Even, I felt very sad on seeing that roger will be seeded third at French Open...

Dear Rogerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

Are you practicing ??? and what ??? You better learn how to beat Djokovic & tune up your accuracy and please, we are getting fed up of those loose balls returning to your opponents to grind back in your court. You need to return the shots real hard, or else you are getting old !!! Love you, and we care about your matches. That's why tennis is such a huge game for us. I bet nobody is greater than you. Nobody!!!

Rogerpete, i think that this is not the place for you to cast your opinions, we do not mind the ranking position of roger, we mind his style, his grace, his greatness as a competitor and as a gentleman. If you think that for a ranking position you are entitled to waste time before a serve in order for the crowd to cheer you up, like nole does, then just cheer for him and leave the master alone, he will always be the crowds favorite and that is independent of his ranking.

First of all i want to say I agree with laserdiode, i dont understand how the points are beign computed. Roger, You lost one game due to tiredness and key errors in key games. The only thing i know now is that Roger will always be the best and if he wins the next three tournaments he plays and djoker does not reach the finaLs in Paris. He will be number one again, no matter what happen i am already very happy with this year, you have been silencing everyone, keep it up champ.

I think you to do something with regards to returning from ur backhand. Nadal and djoker always puts d ball in ur backhand. Once u overcome this, im a vry sure that u'll become no.1 again. Otherwise, it will be hard....

*rogerpete25* Well no-one could accuse you of being loyal. Are you only interested in a player if he is No.1? We all love Federer because he plays sublime tennis and no one plays with his grace and fluidity and no one ever will. Not surprised you were Sampras fan: he and Djokovic have a similar efficient, but rather robotic and boring style of play. Anyway, he's just lost to Nadal so maybe he's had his day! Federer is the only one worth watching. Love to the Maestro, xxxxxxxx
