Stopped by Djokovic

19.05.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger's quest for back-to-back claycourt titles was ended by a 2-6, 6-7(4) defeat in the semi-final in Rome against Novak Djokovic.

Roger was broken twice in the opening set in their first encounter since the US Open last year. Roger was constantly under pressure and could not keep up with Djokovic's pace in the rallies. After falling a break back in the second set as well, Roger started to play more aggressively, varying his game and broke back after saving a match point. But in the following tie-break, Djokovic made the crucial points to win the match and book a spot in the final against Rafael Nadal.

Dear Roger, you're doing far much better than last year. You already have 3 titles and you achived semis this year in Rome.
Djokovic beat you? So you van beat him anytime and you know it..we're still in May and the season is very longue.
Get fit, Champ. I'm very sure that you will get very important victories this year!

Best regards, Champ!

RANKING POINTS NOT CALCULATED CORRECTLY? I think they've miscalculated the points as of today. I don't understand why Djokovic would gain 600 points when he lost 400 points in comparison to his result last year. Also, Roger should still be ahead of Nadal according to my calculations - Roger should have 9700 and Rafa should have 9505 - and Novak would have 10,800. It's like they still have their points from last year as well as their new points.

You luckecd out in Madrid that you didn't have to face the Dynamic Duo. Well at least you were number two for at least a week. After Pete retired you were my favorite player. I think I may have to change allegiance to Djokovic (can't stand Nadal). Maybe you can win a final tournament at Halle and then retire so you can spend time with your kids. Wimby and the Olympics would also be a nice way to go out.

cheeky chops
You might be right about the age factor. But the sad thing is I can't enjoy federer beaten by djokovic or nadal. That's all.Let us see what happens.I think only time has all the answers.

It doesn't matter win/loss you are the greatest.don't worry about the loss to djoko. It happens sometimes...it was a nice come back in the second set. But the day was in favour of djoko...i shouted yeah when u broke his serve..but disappointed when u lost the first point in tie breaker...its ok..relax well and come back strong!....french is yours..always you are my favourite.
