Out against Djokovic

08.06.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger suffered a 4-6, 5-7, 3-6 loss against Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the French Open today.

"I was actually feeling particularly well in the second set, and that one hurts the most to lose," Roger said. "In the third, I don't know, I just wasn't able to put a good game together anymore. You're down two sets to nothing against Novak and it's not the same match anymore. He goes for broke and has no fear and that's about it."

Roger had a good start by breaking Djokovic early in the first set but receiving the re-break in return. Djokovic secured the first set with yet another break. In the second, Roger broke Djokovic again for a 3-0 lead but the world no. 1 took 13 of the next 18 games, constantly putting Roger under pressure. In the third set, Djokovic piled up four breaks to eventually seal his victory after 2:05 hours.

G.O.A.T HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WINNING FOUR SLAMS ON A ROW
ORIGINALY IN ONE CALENDAR YEAR JUST LIKE LAVER DID IN 1969
DJOKOVIC'S SLAM IS NOT IN THE SAME YEAR !! SECOND LAVER IS NOT
NAMED THE GOAT EVER !!!! THIS TITTLE IS GIVEN TO ROGER !!

You’ve better give a shot in center direction. The game with DOJKOVIC in RG, a lot of your error not caused by him but by yourself when you realize your attack is not useless enough. Remain that all of your killers are not good attacker but good defender including Simon, Gilles .

ROGER, Listen to me, you have to change your style with BIG 4 except you. You should focus on reduce your errors more. To accomplish that, you don’t need to try to extremely turn direction-right or left during the rally anymore

See the top 2s' behaviour: the No.1 threw his racket at the chair and damaged it (and where were Novak's first serve and ace? just 2 aces!); the No.2 began to complain the clay condition at the end of Set 3 (when he ultimately lost it). Terrible for having either of them as GOAT, if their fans so claim for them.

Yukimi & 1 Fed1, it does not make any difference whether roger is seeded 2nd or 3rd at Wimbledon since Novak, Nadal & Murray is equally good at grass & 3 of them is 5-6 year yonger than Roger. If Roger have to Win Wimbledon , Roger have to beat them all. Physical & Fitness is very importance during this importance moment

*nochweiterroger* If Djokovic wins RG does that really mean he gets the GOAT tag? With Roger on 16GS and with all the other records he has broken. I confess I've not heard that before. If true, that would be rubbish. Roger will always be the GOAT for all his fans and even for some of his critics; NO ONE will ever match him. BTW you can often get the smaller matches on line (Bet365 and others), not always easy but just put Halle tennis and see. It worked for me for Rotterdam.

PS. Oh, BTW *Yukimi* even if Djokovic wins and Roger is back to World No. 2 It will not make any difference to his seeding at Wimbledon; he will still be seeded 3 there as they fixed the seeds at the end of May. I think that is right but others may like to correct me.

contd. But certainly we Roger fans are between a rock and a hard place having to decide whether we prefer Nadal or Djokovic to win when we don't want either of them to!
*Hughsie* I hadn't heard about Roger's hp problem. Where did he talk about this?

*Yukimi*
If Djokovic wins RG he will be annointed as the 'GOAT'. But he doesn't deserve to be crowned greatest player since Rod Laver and of all time. I had an argument with my neighbour yesterday, who finds the game as played by Nadal and Djokovic 'fascinating' in its technical accuracy, but to me - and most of us on this sit I imagine - find Roger's all court game infinitely superior.
