Roger loses Halle final

17.06.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger lost today's final in Halle against Tommy Haas 6-7(5), 4-6.

"I'm very impressed with how he played today," Roger said. "Tommy deserved to win."

Roger started perfectly well, securing an early break and even heading for a double-break. But then suddenly things changed and our champ had to fight off first set-points at 4-5. In the tie-breaker, Roger fell behind again and Haas eventually took it with a two-point lead after 50 minutes of play.
In the second set Roger's serve was broken at 4-4, giving Haas the possibility to serve out the match - which he then did.

Roger only previous final loss in Halle was in 2010, when he lost to Lleyton Hewitt.

What outstanding posts from you Joke --the best by far and wide.
I am so very jealous that you were sitting in great seats at Halle to watch some wonderful tennis.
Also helps that you ARE a tennis player yourself and thus able to describe so many of the strokes, different spins used in Rogers serves ,movement, positioning for any ball [latter is very rarely mentioned by anyone if at all] As you say tennis heaven for you & spectators

Dear Roger, it was a good tourament, and good preparation for Wimbledon. I was concened about the state of the grass around the baselines: very bare, giving odd bounces. The stadium is imressive, with the roof and all, but the grass is just not good enough. It makes me wonder about Wimbledon, and the grass there. Be in good form, be well: think you are pacing yourself well.

The loss was dissappointing but Haas did play very well. Hope you can practice hard to be ready for wimbledon looking forward to that. also sure hope the grass court is better than this one was in fact I think it was mostly a dirt court. those balls that hit the base line went crazy no decent bounce at all.I think the players handled the poor court well

May be it was considered only as a warm match for Wimbledon, but your loss is causing concern,is it due to over confidence, nervousness , loss of will power or what? My friend, it is not only the first serve, you are also loosing the consistency of the game. Please practice hard to overcome all this problem and win Wimbledon

☆All tournaments are very important, not only Grand Slans that are important, of course that the Grand Slans events are the largest and most visible obviously, but a complete athlete is one who stands out in all championships, difficult and rare ones made but Federer does and can accomplish this, is difficult to find someone like him, some have short memories but only to remember their recent victories (Basel, Paris, London, Rotterdam , Dubai and Indian Wells) We're always cheering for you!!!
