In round three with ease

27.06.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger cruised into round three at Wimbledon with a very clear 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Italy's Fabio Fognini today.

Roger had the honour of playing in front of Prince Charles and Camilla today, saying it was a great feeling to do so. And he was sure to impress the Royal box, firing 13 aces and wrapping up the win in just an hour and a quarter. Roger also kept up his incredible streak of never having lost in round two at a Grand Slam in his career.

Aiming at matching the record of seven Wimbledon men’s titles set by William Renshaw in the 1880s and tied by Pete Sampras in 2000, Roger will next meet either 29th-seeded Frenchman Julien Benneteau or American Michael Russell.

Guys I'm also exited because of Roger's victory. However, Benneteau was playing in one leg for all the 5th set. Roger had to win!

Hopefully he regains his focus and shows how brilliant he is like he did in the 1st two matches.

At least, Roger gets 2 days of rest this weekend to readjust his game, look at the stats and see what he needs to do to avoid a situation like this. Lessons learned, you are not down and out and it's not over until it's over.

RUMAZAIDI, thanks a lot. I got carried away lol!. But he did it and I am so so proud of him. Like I said before, he dodged a bullet tonight, he has to watch out for Xavier Malisse whom he plays next. He could be dangerous if he is in form.
