In round three with ease
27.06.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1
Roger cruised into round three at Wimbledon with a very clear 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Italy's Fabio Fognini today.
Roger had the honour of playing in front of Prince Charles and Camilla today, saying it was a great feeling to do so. And he was sure to impress the Royal box, firing 13 aces and wrapping up the win in just an hour and a quarter. Roger also kept up his incredible streak of never having lost in round two at a Grand Slam in his career.
Aiming at matching the record of seven Wimbledon men’s titles set by William Renshaw in the 1880s and tied by Pete Sampras in 2000, Roger will next meet either 29th-seeded Frenchman Julien Benneteau or American Michael Russell.

Report
A great chance for Roger now. Can he break this indomitable resurgent in the name of Benneteau?
Report
2-1 Roger. As long as he is leading in the 5th set and taking his break chances, all is well. I think the umpire tried to rattle him there a little bit. Stay strong Roger!
Report
Common Roger, hit the ball, don't just chip it back. You can command with your strokes remember that, I find it unbelievably that Benneteau is outhitting you.
Report
At least if Roger were to lose, he would have fought till the 5th set just like Nadal did and not just give it up like that. So proud of him today more than ever. I know he has the tenacity and the precision, determination to come back from a 2 set down to winning the match. Good job!

Fans, thanks for the result!
