Roger through in four sets

02.07.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has reached the quarters in Wimbledon after a 7-6(1), 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win over Xavier Malisse today - his 33rd successive Grand Slam quarterfinal!

Roger seemed in trouble after taking a 4-3 lead in the first set as he had to leave the court for a medical time-out. After that, he went on to take the set in a tie-breaker before play had to be suspended due to rain for 40 minutes. The break seemed to suit Roger well, as he then broke Malisse three times in the second set, taking it 6-1. Set number three went to the Belgian as Roger had to drop his serve. Falling behind due to another break in the fourth set, Roger then came back to break Malisse in the fourth game to level and once more for a 4-2 lead to then wrap everything up nicely after two hours and 11 minutes.

After his 850th career triumph today, Roger will either play Mikhail Youzhny or Denis Istomin on Wednesday for a place in the semis.

I was surprised that you had to leave the court for a medical time-out. So I was worrying.
But you came back and concentrated on your good play many times.
A Roger's magic!
In the semifinals, you restore physical condition, and, in a good state, please play your game.
Good luck! Go to win.

Dear Roger many congratulations after a fine win and despite some back trouble! for a while you appeared to be suffering with your back but you came through in the end.

when roger wons in Wimbledon final 2003, he had back pain worst than yesterday.
he cameover and wons.
I'm not worring about his back pain.
He haven't met DJ on grass before, and Roger is Greatest player on grass.
so Roger will get 7th tilte and regain 1 and 286 weeks ranking 1 too.
