Roger through in four sets
Roger has reached the quarters in Wimbledon after a 7-6(1), 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win over Xavier Malisse today - his 33rd successive Grand Slam quarterfinal!
Roger seemed in trouble after taking a 4-3 lead in the first set as he had to leave the court for a medical time-out. After that, he went on to take the set in a tie-breaker before play had to be suspended due to rain for 40 minutes. The break seemed to suit Roger well, as he then broke Malisse three times in the second set, taking it 6-1. Set number three went to the Belgian as Roger had to drop his serve. Falling behind due to another break in the fourth set, Roger then came back to break Malisse in the fourth game to level and once more for a 4-2 lead to then wrap everything up nicely after two hours and 11 minutes.
After his 850th career triumph today, Roger will either play Mikhail Youzhny or Denis Istomin on Wednesday for a place in the semis.
