Roger and Stan advance

Roger and Stanislas Wawrinka advanced to the second round of the London Olympics thanks to a 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 victory over Kei Nishikori and Go Soeda of Japan.

The Swiss missed a total of four break chances in the opening set, but secured the second thanks to an early break. They managed just the same in the third set, not giving away the advantage of an early lead after a break and wrapping up the match upon the second match-ball after 2 hours and 16 minutes.

They will now play Israel's Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram.

soory it did not go our way in the second set. it was sooooo close. but come thnk of it, it is better this way. rather fighting poor scheduling, inferior court placement, uncertainty of weather delay, it is better to focus on singles and save energy and peace of mind this way.
I am happy of the results. great job.

Well done Roger, one down and one to go. Must have been an awkward place for you to pick up after the rain. You handled it well though, just like the champ you are.
