Cincinnati: The draw

13.08.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

The result of the draw for the Masters-1000 tournament in Cincinnati is quite favourable for Roger.

After a first-round bye he will either play his first match against Jarkko Nieminen (ATP 41) or Alex Bogomolow (ATP 58) - he has never lost against either of the two so far. Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP 18) could then be waiting in the the round of the last 16 and a clash with Juan Monaco (ATP 10) might follow in the quarters. Roger has also been able to defeat these two players every time in the past. David Ferrer (ATP 5, Roger leads the head-to-head 13:0) or Thomas Berdych (ATP 7) could then be waiting in the semis, before his opponent in the final could be defending champion Andy Murray (ATP 4).

Our world number one will be aiming at his fifth victory in Cincinnati after 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Roger, and fellow fans ... Roger looked great holding that beautiful trophy at Cincinnati. If you didn't know: Cincinnati has a rich and distinguished cultural contribution to art pottery ... very desirable art objects. Thus, the splendid vase as a trophy worthy of the title at Cincinnati. The equivalent of European crystal. The historical immigrant background of Cincinnati is heavily German.

Get more pottery, Roger !!!! Classic like you !!!

The most important fact is:
Rog can increase his points by 820 if he wins Cincy.
Rog can increase his points by 1280 if he wins the US Open.
Rog can further increase his points by playing according to the planned schedule at Shanghai master, up to 1000, because he skipped that one last yr.
That's 3010 pts up for grabs for Rog.
So Rog has a much easier route to defend his #1 position than Djokovic.
Those represent 10 more pts than what Roger earned winning last 3 tournys last

Djokovic lost to Roger at Wimbledon in straight sets.
Djokovic lost to Murry at the Olympics in straight sets.
Djokovic lost to del Potro at the Olympics in straight sets.

Djokovic did win the last tournament, but neither Roger, del Potro or Murray really played. (Murray w/d in the 1st rd from knee injury.)
So how can you say that he is the top guy?

It is very early to think of djokovic as the best player now. For if so, he would have handled the pressure in Wimbledon and retained his no.1.
So to cut it short. Every time Roger holds the racket he is the contender.
Come on go for Cincinnati, its yours and go and retain your position
Come on!!!!!! Best of luck
Take care :)

@Leoncacallo: Roger lost 90 points for not attending Roger's Cup last week and Djokovic defended all 1000 points, so there is Roger's 90 point deficit. I still believe Roger will stay #1 until past the US OPEN for he only has 180 points to defend. Novak has 600! If Roger makes the final, he'll be guaranteed to stay #1 :)

Seem like roger got like with the drew, however I thing djokovic will win Cincinnati for sure. Djokovic is arguably the best player in the world at the moment and he will overtake n0 1 spot soon. Good luck roger.
