Cincinnati: The draw

13.08.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

The result of the draw for the Masters-1000 tournament in Cincinnati is quite favourable for Roger.

After a first-round bye he will either play his first match against Jarkko Nieminen (ATP 41) or Alex Bogomolow (ATP 58) - he has never lost against either of the two so far. Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP 18) could then be waiting in the the round of the last 16 and a clash with Juan Monaco (ATP 10) might follow in the quarters. Roger has also been able to defeat these two players every time in the past. David Ferrer (ATP 5, Roger leads the head-to-head 13:0) or Thomas Berdych (ATP 7) could then be waiting in the semis, before his opponent in the final could be defending champion Andy Murray (ATP 4).

Our world number one will be aiming at his fifth victory in Cincinnati after 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Hey Champ, nice to see you back for the US Hard courts. Forget about the rankings. Just focus and win the record-breaking 5th Cincy title. These courts suit your game better. Just make use of the surface to your advantage. Go match-by-match. I'm pretty certain that you're targeting your 5th Cincy. Go get it!

I don't know if other fans remember Murray tried the same tactic
immediately after Rog got married, often saying that Rog wouldn't be
winning any more slams because he's married. Roger quickly won 2 and beat Pete's G Slam record in response. I was very proud not only of Rog but what he did for all the athletes who love their families & are great parents.Clijsters is another great role model. Can't let Murray deflate generations of 30 something year old athletes--wd be such a shame.GoMistyKerry!

Coraz, I do believe it's icing on the cake, as Jodoug said,
but once on court, a mental advantage is huge. I'd take both:) Why not?
There're so many 30 something marathon & triathlon champions, but hardly any teen or early 20 champions -- for good physiological & scientific reasons.
I find Murray's unrelenting dig at Rog's age of poor taste, such as at the Wimbledon trophy ceremony. He said Rog is good for a 30 something. That's just without class, & without scientific basis. So, go for it Ro
