Semis against Stan

Roger notched up a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory against Mardy Fish at the Cincinnati Masters and will now play his friend and Olympic doubles partner Stanislas Wawrinka.

“Playing an American here in America, it's always special. It was pretty straightforward. Whoever was going to be more aggressive, serve more consistent, and then play maybe a tiny bit better from the baseline was probably going to win. I'm happy I was that guy tonight.”

Roger showed an excellent tennis-display, breaking Fish on the first occasion with three impressive winners. He swiped his entire serves without any problems, winning 93% of the points on his first serve. He secured one more break in the last game of the set to clearly book it 6-3. Fish raised his level of play in the second set, but Roger was finally able to click the set in the tie-break.

Next up is Stanislas Wawrinka who sent Milos Raonic home in three sets. Roger holds a 10-1 record against Stan.

I wonder if Roger will be as merciful to Del Potro in the final as he was against Andy Murray at The Olympics final ..... Just a thought .....

Really an "Ah!" match Roger, when one can say that over and over again. Keep your pacing, as you are doing so well in the semis. The other semis, well, I am ot sure how well Delpo will hold up, as I heard his wrist is bothering him. For you, keep it swift and decisive, as there is the USO coming up. congratulations Rog. As I said before I believe that hard courts is the favourite for you Rog, because the matches are in full control in your hands. I believe you can win this title and the US OPEN grandslam title. all the best against Stan.
