US Open draw

24.08.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

The US Open 2012 starts next Monday. Roger will meet Donald Young (ATP 80) in the opening round. Roger has never played against the American - who has only won two matches this season - so far.

Roger and Andy Murray wound up on the same side of the draw and could meet in the semifinals for a rematch of their recent finals at Wimbledon and the London Olympics. But before that, Roger could meet Björn Phau (ATP 83) in round two, Fernando Verdasco (ATP 26) in round three, then Gilles Simon (ATP 17) and later Tomas Berdych (ATP 7) in the quarters.

Roger has always reached at least the semis of the US Open since 2004. And even before the tournament has started, our champ has broken yet another record: he is the number one seed for the 23rd time at a Grand Slam tournament - once more than Pete Sampras.

1) My dearest Fed,
Thank you and congragulations for winning the Cincy open. But my heart broke when you lost the gold medal match with Murray. Only two reasons are there for your loss. That is either you are tired because of Delpo’s match or you might have simply gifted the match to Murray.
Contd.

Saw your interview. It is impressive how insightful and mindful of the sport you are. I don't care for some journos and commentators "pushing" for this or that player. Tennis, the sport, needs strong, and consistent, lasting top players, and not "popcorn tennis," with titles here and thre. It is a game of merit, and other players benefit from having really outstanding record setting athletes, to motivate them to up their games. Good luck: it's your place!
