Roger advances in three sets
01.09.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1
Roger won his third-round match at the US Open against Fernando Verdasco in a straight-sets win 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 today.
Spain's Verdasco, the second best left hander after Nadal, did not have a real chance against our champ in their fifth encounter. Roger's service was extremely reliable: he scored six aces and boasted a first-serve percentage of 67 percent throughout the etire match. Verdasco, in contrast, struggled with his accuracy and made 35 unforced errors. Roger sealed the match after 122 minutes with an excellent high backhand volley.
Roger will face the winner of Saturday evening's match between Mardy Fish and Gilles Simon in his next match on Monday.

Thank you and congratulations on another sublime performance. As for your forecourt play just superb almost 100% success and 200% for your winning point you show off!
The good thing is that you did not spend a lot of energy particulaarly for the the last 1 1/2 sets.
Wishing you all of the very best for 4th round msatch
Kindest regards
Margaret
Strategy is all that you need, player to player!!! One step at a time, one game at a time, one match at a time, one perfect shot at the right time, and you stay number one for a long time!!!
Great match, perfect strategy to stop Verdasco's speedy shots. Idea was perfect!!! Now, you got to find a way to Block the Djoker & Murray, rest all of them would be easier, but you better concentrate on 100% serve as it is your reliable weapon!!! Don't hit too hard shots & please try to reduce your unforced errors!!!
nice shot to finish on back hand volley.
good luck love Helen xxxxxxxx
