Roger walks into last eight

Roger advanced into his 34th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final today as Mardy Fish had to withdraw from their US Open match due to health issues. Fish has been experiencing heart-problems and had already taken a two-month break from the Tour beginning of this year. 

The walkover stretched Roger's record for quarter-final Grand Slam appearances in the Open era to 38, three short of the record 41 by Jimmy Connors.

Roger will play his quarter-final against Tomas Berdych on Wednesday. Our champion has won 11 of their 15 encounters so far.

Dearest Roger, haven't see the match yet but I'm so sorry. Tough to have that long gap and come up against Berdych. You've had a fantastic summer up until now...you're such a wonderful champion. Take care and have a good rest.Love and hugs to you, xxxxxxxx

Roooogeeerrr! This was the best US Open ever! I finally saw you IN PERSON...how wonderful your play and you are! No matter that you lost today, I thank you for your exquisite GAME. TOO BAD THIS LOSS, I WAS HOPING YOU COULD DO THE SAME AS AT WIMBLEDON. THOMAS PLAYED A VERY STRONG MATCH, AND YOU WERE LIKE LOST; I SAW THE FRUSTRATION IN YOUR PLAY AFTER THE LOSS OF THE FIRST SET.

sorry for today's loss. Tomas played well, but actually u were running off mode. forget it and go ahead for full 1000 points at Shanghai. always support u no matter the result is to b. just keep playing.

Roger, when I saw the draw, I know is going to be tough facing Berdych, his game big serve, heavy baseline stoke where u have very close and tough match with him previously, it is not a suprise for this results even u know it. U already do u best. Wish you best of luck for the rest of season
