Roger walks into last eight

Roger advanced into his 34th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final today as Mardy Fish had to withdraw from their US Open match due to health issues. Fish has been experiencing heart-problems and had already taken a two-month break from the Tour beginning of this year.

The walkover stretched Roger's record for quarter-final Grand Slam appearances in the Open era to 38, three short of the record 41 by Jimmy Connors.

Roger will play his quarter-final against Tomas Berdych on Wednesday. Our champion has won 11 of their 15 encounters so far.

Started so well and since that first game has played shocking. Making alot of errors and Berdych is holding with ease

More errors set and a break down this could be the US Open over. I am disgusted at Fish hwy beat a player then withdraw its wrong.

Not attacking here. Roger was broken in less than 2 minutes at 3-2 and then lost the tie break easily hitting 16 ues. Not playing Fish has cost him a bit at the moment.

It's not nice to move on in the tournament like that, but you have to take it as it comes. At least, you had more time to rest.

With a record 38th GS QF, things turn tougher now. You face tonight a really difficult player, as Tomas is, and you'll need to play as good as you did in the previous rounds, even better, maybe.,
