Roger walks into last eight

03.09.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger advanced into his 34th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final today as Mardy Fish had to withdraw from their US Open match due to health issues. Fish has been experiencing heart-problems and had already taken a two-month break from the Tour beginning of this year.

The walkover stretched Roger's record for quarter-final Grand Slam appearances in the Open era to 38, three short of the record 41 by Jimmy Connors.

Roger will play his quarter-final against Tomas Berdych on Wednesday. Our champion has won 11 of their 15 encounters so far.

Roger is playing great and he's feeling confident with his game. I don't know if the retirement of Fish is good for him, but he could beat Fish when he want, he's not a great player, talking seriously...So, i think Thomas Berdych is a good player and solid from the baseline, but Roger's precise tecnic can destroy his game, like the final in Mutua Madrid Open. On speed court like Us Open Roger is the favourite, remains Murray and Djokovic, so let's see...C'mon Roger from Italy!!!

Dear Roger
I, like Helensmudge, often wonder if you read our letters. We hope you do because then you will realise just how much you are loved and revered.
Good luck against Berdych and wish Stan good luck in his next match.

Go Roger Go. Go for the 6th US Champ this year.
Keep moving, Roger. Keep beating them all. Dictate the plays aggressively to beat Tomas in three with your superior marvelous serves + variety dynamic strokes. Stay calm and focus to execute your tactics and game plans efficiently against him. Just do it, Roger. Just beat Tomas.
