Roger out in quarters

06.09.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger could not make it past Tomas Berdych in the quarters of the US Open, losing 6-7(1), 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 to the world number 7.

"So many moments, I thought, ‘Man, it’s just not happening for me,'" Roger said afterwards. "It was just a very disappointing match for me."

Berdych absolutely controlled the opening-set tiebreaker and then he broke to begin the second set. Roger fought back in the third set and finally found his rhythm. The critical point came late in the fourth set: Berdych's broke Roger to take a 5-3 lead. At that point, all Berdych had to do was hold serve - and he did.

For the first time since 2003, Roger is not going to participate in the U.S. Open semifinals. Still, he will remain world no. 1 until after the US Open.

Still feeling so bad - US Open without Roger! Can't just accept it, Don't find any interest to watch US open any more. RF should have played more cautiously on break points - seems like he blew away. I wish RF wins over TB next time with bagels and makes us feel really good. See u Roger in Shanghai Rolex Masters.

Hi Roger,
Neither you nor us expected you to go out at QF, but it has happened. Its very dissapointing and can be depressing as we continue to watch the USO without you. You were doing so well and its unreal... However unexpected things do happen, and may be for a reason. I believe it will give you time to reflect and continue to manage things even better. Sometimes we tend to take things for granted.
Wishing you all the best, God willing you will Bounce back!

And I also think that itf should reconsider to get back to the fast court, for past three years the recent courts have favoured other top ranked players. Now a switch would change the entire play, and show how many can adapt to the change or not. Roger did, who else can/cannot.

Rest well because your fans are hungry for you to be back in winning ways. I hope you to play the rest of the 2012 season at the top and stay unbeatable. Ameen.

Today's tennis had no charm and creative short making, same old boring base-liners again and again. Seriously without you there's no fun in watching tennis. And now your out from USO, I would like David Ferrer to hold the championship trophy on the Final day. InshaAllah.
