Roger out in quarters

Roger could not make it past Tomas Berdych in the quarters of the US Open, losing 6-7(1), 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 to the world number 7.

"So many moments, I thought, ‘Man, it’s just not happening for me,'" Roger said afterwards. "It was just a very disappointing match for me."

Berdych absolutely controlled the opening-set tiebreaker and then he broke to begin the second set. Roger fought back in the third set and finally found his rhythm. The critical point came late in the fourth set: Berdych's broke Roger to take a 5-3 lead. At that point, all Berdych had to do was hold serve - and he did.

For the first time since 2003, Roger is not going to participate in the U.S. Open semifinals. Still, he will remain world no. 1 until after the US Open.

It was just one bad day at the office Rog ! I know you may be disappointed but don't take it to heart. I know you'll come back stronger from this. Berdych better prepare himself for a wash-off if he plays you anytime in the remainder of the season ;-). Keep fighting Rog because we your fans are so proud of you and know that you'll have a superb end to the season. You're # 1 Maestro ! Roger that !!!!!

Oh yes such a dissapointment. Berdych is such a boring player and seems on top of it very unsympathetic. Now we will not enjoy watching your creative amazing tennis for the rest of the tournament, actually I have just stopped watching. next time better Roger, you cannot win them all, you have already had an amazing year so far and there will the Masters in London at the end of the year, hopefully with Nadal back to make it more exciting even. Have a good rest, you are still the best!!!

Dear Maestro, you had a tough match; it isn´t easy to clarify the reason of the loss. I hope that you are healthy, and take a rest to recover. Anyway, everybody could have a bad day. You are the best and Nr. 1, and the season is not over. Do not give yo, be strong an confident. We, your fans support you. Go, Go, Go.

Tu dois être extrêmment décu de ta performance. Malheureusement je n'ai pas été capable de regerder le match au complet car je ne pouvais te voir perdre. Tu seras toujour mon joueur favori.
