Roger out in quarters

06.09.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger could not make it past Tomas Berdych in the quarters of the US Open, losing 6-7(1), 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 to the world number 7.

"So many moments, I thought, ‘Man, it’s just not happening for me,'" Roger said afterwards. "It was just a very disappointing match for me."

Berdych absolutely controlled the opening-set tiebreaker and then he broke to begin the second set. Roger fought back in the third set and finally found his rhythm. The critical point came late in the fourth set: Berdych's broke Roger to take a 5-3 lead. At that point, all Berdych had to do was hold serve - and he did.

For the first time since 2003, Roger is not going to participate in the U.S. Open semifinals. Still, he will remain world no. 1 until after the US Open.

Tough loss against a super game Berdych, but it's hard to be fully ready to go after so many days off. And it's still a historic summer with regaining #1 all-time, Olympic silver, and of course, Wimby #7! Incredible comeback year, Rog!

Too much errors. More stability is expected to win match like this. Was there something that hindered?

I watched the video recorded last night the battle between our Champ and TB, Rog did not lose to TB but rather to he himself: with more than 40 unforced errors and, already too late by winning the 3rd set. Roger was not proud nor arrogant, he surely can dictate play & dicide who can win or loose, inclduing he himself, his comment is indeed professional. When he plays well, who can defeat him (maybe except only RN on clay).

So sad to see you loose the QFs. It was shocking for me. I always wished to see you win the US open for record Six time.I feel that the comments that you gave at the start of US open " I can dictate play & dicide who can win or loose" sounded a bit arrogant & proud. Please avoid such comments in future & be humble & believe in God Almighty. I m sure you will win Sixth Us open in coming years before u Hang up ur racket. Wish you all the best for future. There is nothing wrong with Roger you did your best evening did not help the atmosphere and luck was with Berdych and beating Federer is better than taking the cup and will fail to overcome Murray ... I wish maestro to enjoy health and wellness

Dear Roger, get some rest and pound them all in Shanghai! Game's still on for year-end No. 1! Too bad, but you'll rebound, as you ever did. Good luck!
