Roger out in quarters

Roger could not make it past Tomas Berdych in the quarters of the US Open, losing 6-7(1), 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 to the world number 7.

"So many moments, I thought, ‘Man, it’s just not happening for me,'" Roger said afterwards. "It was just a very disappointing match for me."

Berdych absolutely controlled the opening-set tiebreaker and then he broke to begin the second set. Roger fought back in the third set and finally found his rhythm. The critical point came late in the fourth set: Berdych's broke Roger to take a 5-3 lead. At that point, all Berdych had to do was hold serve - and he did.

For the first time since 2003, Roger is not going to participate in the U.S. Open semifinals. Still, he will remain world no. 1 until after the US Open.

Before Shanghai (10/7-10/14) Fed will have 299 weeks at No1!
First column: ATP Ranking Date
Second column: Roger’s weeks at No1
Third column: Roger’s Total Points that week
Fourth column: Joker’s Total Points that week
Fifth column: Difference in points
Assumptions: Joker wins US Open (zero net gain because he won US Open last year) and China Open (10/1-10/7: he would gain 500 points). Roger lost 360 points at US open this year and will not play China Open. It would be great if Roger

Murray is on a streak, so what. Djoke was on a streak, so what, and so was Nadal. In the end, look who has maintained the most consistent level, even at his age, when most others would have quit (and many have). Look who continues to carry number one, and all of the pressures that comes with it, better than all of them, over all the years.

Federer is the Greatest Of All Time, the epitome of the term. Period.

He could lose everything from here on, and that does not change.

Notice how within mere minutes, the world's press has turned on Roger. Once again writing him off as they have done every time. One moment, he's the king, next moment, he's finished.

We Fed followers are so accustomed to this nonsense, we can laugh it off.

Fact is, he has had a great summer. Wimbledon. Number one. Beats Djoke badly at Cincy. That is greatness. The year's not over by a long shot.

Yes, Roger is old in tennis years, but in absolute terms, he will win again.

A failed major, but easier to get over. For many good reasons, Roger had his worst night, wildly off, while Berdych had his best. End of story. Roger should pay attention to his losses to Berdych, the boring power game that hitters like Djoke rely on, if this is a long term problem to solve. If Rog's game---footwork, serve, etc--- is 100%, yes, he wins this one. Let's be realistic. He needs to save energy and pick his shots now.

He will do well indoor.

Majors are still within reach.

I am sorry for the loss, no doubt, Berdych played a fantastic game,but with your normal game you could have beaten him,for some reason your serve didn't work and lack of mental strength ended up in unforced errors at crucial stages.
Any way,champions can't be champions every time . Please take some rest and do something to strengthen the mind,you can do it,that is how you won Wimbledon this year, we want you to add more feathers in your cap, this year is good for you
