Perfect start for Switzerland

Roger won his first match in the Davis Cup rubber against Thiemo de Bakker (ATP 159) 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 today. This gives Switzerland a 1-0 lead over the Netherlands in the Davis Cup playoffs.

Under wet and windy conditions, the match was interrupted at 1-1 for about an hour. After that, both players earned a break but Roger was able to win the deciding one to win the first set 6-4. Our champ started into the second set with a double break and held to win the second set, too. Roger did not waste any chances in the third to win the match after 102 minutes of play.

Roger will play tomorrow's doubles match aside Stanislas Wawrinka against Robin Haase (ATP 50) and Jean-Julien Rojer (ATP 17 in doubles).

You missed the great opportunity to finish the job today! So, be fit tomorrow and play better! Don't allow that dirty shots to repeat (from Haase). It was terrible even to watch how they played directly into your or Stan's bodies! Shame! Though it is allowed it's not the fair play!
Wish you all the best tomorrow dearest Roger!
Beat that Haase in straight sets, he deserved it!
Good luck Roger and Stan (better that Roger finishes winning!).

Well Roger, bad luck, you and Stan know each other well but you haven't had much practice lately, and even less in clay, when you two are sincronized, the team is even better than the bryans. tomorrow you will have to Destroy Hasse to let Stan play calm but it is completely within your range. this year was the medal, next year is the davis cup, keep within the world group and get even more accostumed to clay courts. If you play in clay like in 2011 the 2013 davis cup will go to switzerland.

Hard lines for the result today, Jean-Julien and Robin just were a better partnership today. All the best for your match tomorrow, Haase can be a troublesome player but doesn't seem the strongest mentally so hang strong there Rog. Very good luck and lots of love, hope you're feeling fine. xxxx

Well played Fedrinka! It was an exciting match to watch, just the wrong result. Thank you for trying. I think the Dutch team were perhaps play together more often than Fedrinka and as a result had the edge. Both you and Stan played some wonderful shots. Thank you for a nice afternoon. Tomorrow is another day. Hope you are both fas fit and well as you looked. Good luck, Rog, good, luck Stan. You both can do it. Hopp Suisse!!!!!
