Roger beats Haase to secure |Swiss Davis Cup win

16.09.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger beat Robin Haase 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 today to clinch Switzerland's victory against the Netherlands in their Davis Cup World Group playoff.

"I felt like I was always somewhat in control," Roger said after the match. Our champ was rarely troubled by the 50th-ranked Haase on the temporary clay court in Amsterdam. After only a few minutes, Roger already had jumped to a 3-0 lead. In the next two sets, he broke very early and sealed the victory and his team's return to the World Group next year after only 97 minutes.

Playing the Olympics was a great mistake, missing toronto was the correct decision and you should have skipped the London games as well, the Del Porto match was worth five matches by itself, you did not have enough big slam win in you for the US Open and you were shot, the berdych defeat was very likely but you would have won New York considering your excellent display at Wimbledon and Cincy if you had not...I would love to see you play Tennis until you are 34 years old...

Thanks - hopefully he will confirm soon. No point for me going to Shanghai if he is not playing. Hopefully, Roger will confirm soon.

Look at the date of that article, the confirmation was before the Davis Cup. I think we need to wait for official confirmation from Roger's camp.
