Roger beats Haase to secure |Swiss Davis Cup win

16.09.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger beat Robin Haase 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 today to clinch Switzerland's victory against the Netherlands in their Davis Cup World Group playoff.

"I felt like I was always somewhat in control," Roger said after the match. Our champ was rarely troubled by the 50th-ranked Haase on the temporary clay court in Amsterdam. After only a few minutes, Roger already had jumped to a 3-0 lead. In the next two sets, he broke very early and sealed the victory and his team's return to the World Group next year after only 97 minutes.

I cannot thank you enough for everything--you always fill my own busy life with so much joy and admiration,Roger
Enjoy a happy/relaxing holiday

Dear roger,

I saw you playing against Robin. I feel priviliged to be so close to you. I saw you walking back to the locker room and you apologised for the fact that you were unable to give me an autograph. I said 'we love you roger!!'you smiled and walked away. Thank you for your energy and inspiration you give me every day. Hope to see you play again soon!! All the best for the reminder of the season and for the coming years. A true champ on and off the court.

As you stated in one of your intervews, it is difficult for the smaller countries such as the Swiss and Netherlands to win the DC related to lack of numbers who play tennis unlike some other countries. However having said that, both countries
