Roger wins Swiss encounter

Roger won his second match at the Shanghai Rolex Masters against his friend Stanislas Wawrinka 4-6, 7-6, 6-0. The victory means that Roger has now secured his 300th week as world no. 1!

Wawrinka had a better start into the match, capturing the first set. The second set proved a tough fight between the two friends, with Roger eventually winning the tie-breaker. In the third set, Wawrinka was unable to match Roger's game.

With today's victory, Roger set a new milestone in tennis history: he will be celebrating his 300th week as world no. 1 on Monday.

On Friday, Roger will meet Croatia's Marin Cilic (ATP 16) in the quarter final. Roger leads the head-to-head 3-0.

Congrats Roger. Tough match. Every fan of yours was definitely worried in the second set but you came through that and the match.
Also congrats on becoming the first man in history to be ranked no.1 for 300 weeks.

Congratulations Roger, You gave me a scare in the beginning,but you fought back well. An improvement in serve is definitely needed to win this tournament, you can do it. Best of luck

Congratulations on yet another wish fullfilled for you and your fans, you reached the nice well rounded number of 300 wks at #1. You totally deserved it. I am so happy the 3rd set was quick, credit also goes to Stan for that, and you're not tired and spent for tomorrow. I am so happy and celebrating with you.. Hope all goes your way tomorrow as well.

Congrats on coming through this tough match, Roger! I’m very happy for you! A pity for Stan though, he really played well those first 2 sets, losing the breaker just took the wind out of his sails.
