Out against Murray

13.10.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was defeated 4-6, 4-6 by Andy Murray in the semis of the Shanghai Masters today.

Roger had trouble with his serve on numerous occasions today, committing three successive double faults in the middle of the opening set. He did manage a re-break to make up for the loss of his opening serve to level at 1-1, but Murray secured another break to take a 3-2 lead which proved enough to capture the first set. The second set started with a seemingly interminable opening game (18 minutes). Murray scored the first break - after a 40-0 lead on Roger's serve - to again take a 3-2 lead and finally the match.

Murray and Djokovic will play each other in tomorrow's final.

Even Steve Tignor at Tennis.com admits that the so'called new 'great rivalry' between Murray and Djokovic is boring. Tell me about it! Boring machine tennis (especially by Djokovic) and boring personalities (or lack of same).
Apologies for this negativity and perhaps posts should be positive about you, Roger, the greatest player. So 300 weeks at no. 1 BRILLIANT.

Perhaps it is just on Swiss. It is on here ESPN Classic at 22.00hrs. Definitely on here tonight and featuring Roger. Sorry for getting your hopes up if it is only on over here.
At the moment it is the ladies turn with Serena Williams vs Dementieva.

Just reflecting on a fantastic 12 months which all started at Basel 2011 - 9 tournament wins, 6th ATP Finals win, 7th Wimbledon and a return to No1. Silenced the doubters again truly inspirational. Thanks for all those memories.

Well, Rog, the semi’s after a few weeks away isn’t too bad, especially against Andy who is playing some of his very best tennis right now. Plus it was kind of a weird week, with extra security for you, maybe not feeling your best & playing okay, but seeing what things to work on a bit. Even so, you achieved an amazing 300 weeks at #1 and did play some fine tennis at times.

Home now to Basel & your family & friends. Hope you’ll defend your title beautifully! Cheering for you, as always!
