Out against Murray

Roger was defeated 4-6, 4-6 by Andy Murray in the semis of the Shanghai Masters today.

Roger had trouble with his serve on numerous occasions today, committing three successive double faults in the middle of the opening set. He did manage a re-break to make up for the loss of his opening serve to level at 1-1, but Murray secured another break to take a 3-2 lead which proved enough to capture the first set. The second set started with a seemingly interminable opening game (18 minutes). Murray scored the first break - after a 40-0 lead on Roger's serve - to again take a 3-2 lead and finally the match.

Murray and Djokovic will play each other in tomorrow's final.

well, that's tennis. i don't get upset when roger loses now. i don't care if he reaches year end #1. he has had a fantastic year; wimbly, silver, return to #1. those were his goals for the year and he did it. he will set more goals for next year. he'll get those. his career of so many records is complete even if he stopped now. so i hope he enjoyed playing. he can go now and enjoy family. i enjoyed seeing him. the 25/26 yr olds now fighting for their legacy. they'll never catch roger.

Nothing to worry roger....you just lost one match and it doesnt make any difference........i saw the full match and yes your service was little bit weak but in other departments you were brilliant...! so congrads for being #1 for 300weeks and counting.!!! so see you at basel we all hope you will win that tournament good luck my roger we all love you.....!!!

I hope you can reclaim all 3000 remaining points and stay at #1 even though it's difficult especially if Nole wins today. But in any case what you have achieved is beyond mind, come back at #1 at 31 with a very competitive tennis era with Nole, Rafael, Andy...keep up! Btw you can't serve worse so I think it was ok with Murray yesterday! The best for you!
