Out against Murray

Roger was defeated 4-6, 4-6 by Andy Murray in the semis of the Shanghai Masters today.

Roger had trouble with his serve on numerous occasions today, committing three successive double faults in the middle of the opening set. He did manage a re-break to make up for the loss of his opening serve to level at 1-1, but Murray secured another break to take a 3-2 lead which proved enough to capture the first set. The second set started with a seemingly interminable opening game (18 minutes). Murray scored the first break - after a 40-0 lead on Roger's serve - to again take a 3-2 lead and finally the match.

Murray and Djokovic will play each other in tomorrow's final.

Sorry you didn't win today and hope you're healthy. Have a safe and pleasant trip back home and enjoy you beloved family. After all the tennis you've played this year I find it amazing that you played Shanghai making the SF & reaching your 300 wks at #1 in the process. We enjoyed you and your Chinese fans enjoyed you. Too bad you lost, Roger, and Novak will now be No. 1 for the last week of the year (World Tour Finals). Still, an outside chance to clinch year-end No. 1 ranking - and next year beckons! Have some rest and play well in Basel, Paris, and London!

Good week...Good year and a long year. You and Paul put your heads together and work out the kinks and tweek your game. Tough loss, I was surprised that Murray played so well.
Then again, I shouldn't be, its been a long time coming and he has arrived and turned into a force. Nice mix of champions...See you Basel

Mi dispiace tanto per la tua sconfitta. Certo non hai giocato benissimo. Il servizio è stato la principale causa di questa sconfitta. Dopo tante partite giocate nell'anno è normale non avere una buona giornata. La stagione non è finita e avrai occasioni di rifarti. Spero di rivederti presto in campo. Per me sei e sarai sempre il migliore. Quando perdi è sempre un grande dolore per me. Goditi il tuo meritato riposo al fianco della tua meravigliosa famiglia. Sempre con te magnifico Roger.

It's okay, Roger! You just had a bad day. I knew it was going to be tough when you only got 1/5 first serves in the opening game. You still kept it close playing far away from your a- game. Chin up, you got 300 weeks at number 1 secured for monday. We will see you in basel. Keep smiling. Your fans always love and believe in you. Never forget it!
