Out against Murray

13.10.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was defeated 4-6, 4-6 by Andy Murray in the semis of the Shanghai Masters today.

Roger had trouble with his serve on numerous occasions today, committing three successive double faults in the middle of the opening set. He did manage a re-break to make up for the loss of his opening serve to level at 1-1, but Murray secured another break to take a 3-2 lead which proved enough to capture the first set. The second set started with a seemingly interminable opening game (18 minutes). Murray scored the first break - after a 40-0 lead on Roger's serve - to again take a 3-2 lead and finally the match.

Murray and Djokovic will play each other in tomorrow's final.

2-You are very hard on yourself and I guess that's a good thing given that self indulgence leads nowhere, but I'll tell you I loved your game I do every time, in my eyes you played great, you really make it look so easy when it is not, your backhand is so amazing, that shot the single handed way is really difficult to achieve, never to mention displayed with your elegance and talent.

3-Just a note, what a total incapacity from the people in charge to make a decision! You advice them timely about the rain and they didn't understand and did nothing just entertained the moment. They should have listen to you, with all your experience you know what you are talking about, you know when the conditions are not optimal and if they have the tools to fix it! Just do it people in time! Honestly!

4-It is the same over and over with the tournaments that have the option for the roof; they don't use it in time when it is needed, why?! Look what happens, the same story over and over! So upsetting! Besides they messed with the results! It is not right! They have to reflect on things!

Anyway you made the people over at China very happy, they created a great atmosphere, happy you enjoyed it; you are so sweet. :)

*** To TAWFKAIO *** When you have won 17 grand slams, never retired in a match (no matter if you are injured), played so well you maintained number one position for nearly six years, and set innumerable records -- then and only then can you say that Roger did not play his best. Somehow I doubt you will be in that position. To Roger I say congratulations and best wishes for the rest of the year.

I see many similarities with Jeter. It's a long season and health issues creep up when you least expect them. Jeter was having a great year after they wrote him off last year.
