Out against Murray

13.10.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was defeated 4-6, 4-6 by Andy Murray in the semis of the Shanghai Masters today.

Roger had trouble with his serve on numerous occasions today, committing three successive double faults in the middle of the opening set. He did manage a re-break to make up for the loss of his opening serve to level at 1-1, but Murray secured another break to take a 3-2 lead which proved enough to capture the first set. The second set started with a seemingly interminable opening game (18 minutes). Murray scored the first break - after a 40-0 lead on Roger's serve - to again take a 3-2 lead and finally the match.

Murray and Djokovic will play each other in tomorrow's final.

Dear Roger,

Sorry for the loss in China. All I have to say, is you are an amazing athlete at 31. Let's see what Andy does and what he accomplishes at your age.

Good luck in the next tourney. Go and enjoy those beautiful girls!!

Much happiness to you,

My dearest Roger,
obviously it wasn't Your day.
Andy didn't play that good (at all!!) as You played very poorly... :(
Hope You'll regain Your confidence for the upcoming Titles to defend.
Go Champ, shine on!
Sending You LOVE from Belgrade, Serbia.

roger: Djokovic bowed out of basel, maybe he doesnt want to face you there and meet you in full strenght in paris. Now is your time, the roofs are closed, the temperatures are set, th ball bounces low and you can milk each and every stroke you make. please keep uop the pace from the last two years and then time to rest and enjoy the south-american tour where you will find awesome places, taste great food ad play quality tennis. Some journalists have written you off yet again, prove them wrong.

You were obviously playing Murray "under a cloud" in more ways than one. Not only did the officials not respect your request to close the roof (you were vindicated after the two stoppages) but also terrible to have those online threats made against you. To continue to play to the semi-finals is proof that you put tennis and the fans as your priority. People who call you arrogant have no idea how wrong they are. You are the BEST.

Dear Roger.
You are already history.
From here on out looking the best for you and your health.
You want to make the ultimate sacrifice to reach year-end number one, we will always accompany you, but please take care.

Good luck champ. Champion Forever
