Out against Murray

Roger was defeated 4-6, 4-6 by Andy Murray in the semis of the Shanghai Masters today.

Roger had trouble with his serve on numerous occasions today, committing three successive double faults in the middle of the opening set. He did manage a re-break to make up for the loss of his opening serve to level at 1-1, but Murray secured another break to take a 3-2 lead which proved enough to capture the first set. The second set started with a seemingly interminable opening game (18 minutes). Murray scored the first break - after a 40-0 lead on Roger's serve - to again take a 3-2 lead and finally the match.

Murray and Djokovic will play each other in tomorrow's final.

im not sad,angy.... i know myself at the moment ... i'm really satisfied with federer's milestones in 2012 , as roger said: YEC is bonus , yes and i guess any record from now on is just a bonus , cuz all the mandatory records were either got broken or levelled at least by the maystro , though still we have 1000 wins, 600 hard court wins, breaking McEnroe's No. of titles(77?) .... etc

you become so fragile in front of andy and we cannot withstand this with much ups and dawns you have to know there millions of fans want you to try harder er not like you did with very weak serve ,a lot of UF and you finally added DFs how could you win

I am not surprised,right from the beginning you didn't play well in this tournament
Your main weapon completely failed, there is a problem, you know it, please work hard to overcome the problem. We want you to remain as No1 till you retire, we know you are capable if you play your normal game with confidence and determination. Wish you all the best in Basel

For a last minute decision to play Shanghai the results are pretty satisfactory considering it boosted the number of weeks to 300 (I mean THREE HUNDRED!!!!!). Everything else is a bonus. Look at it as a warm up for Basel and the rest of the hard court season. ALL THE BEST!!

A bad day at the office against Murray - but congrats on 300 weeks at number one. I was more disappointed with the way you tried to make something of the rain to break the opponent's rhythm. There is no need for such a gret plqyer to stoop to such depths. Good luck in Basle Roger. Always be sporting.
