Champion of Champions

For the second year in a row, L'Equipe, France's largest sports newspaper, voted Roger Champion of Champions. All the journalists of L'Equipe (arguably the most famous sports newspaper in the world) took part in the vote for the 2006 award, giving Roger 912 points; with Tiger Woods (golf) coming second with 257 and Fernando Alonso (Formula 1) third with 242 points.

 

Roger is only the second tennis player to receive the prestigious award (Andre Agassi, 1999) and only the third athlete to win the award more than once (Carl Lewis, Michael Schumacher).
