Roger wins last match on the|Gillette Federer Tour

16.12.2012 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger's last match on the Gillette Federer Tour was packed with great tennis and laughs as he defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 in Bogotá. Both players proved great acting talent, making the crowd roar and cheer along.

Roger played a total of six matches on the Gillette Federer Tour, stopping in São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Bogotá. Our champ booked four victories and was defeated twice.

Now Roger can enjoy a short break before getting back into action Down Under as the Australian Open starts on January 14 and opens his 2013 season.

Still I want to finish on a positive note. Congratulations on winning the Swiss Sports Award 2012!! You so deserve it. I hope that the press will write a lot about that and interview you a lot about winning the award and your extremely succesfull Gillette tour. I hope they won't ask you too much to say about what Stan said, because allthough he said it, you will get all the blame. But stay nice and polite, you will get through that. Just remember, you finished a tour that was named after you !!!

And you couldn’t have looked cuter with your “sombrero vueltiao” and “mochila wayúu”, you completely pull them of, Colombian style. None of our visitors seem to be able to escape from them ;)

Happy holidays and may your 2013 be amazing! All the best for you and your family!

Love,

A.

On a some what sadder note: Just read what Stan the Man said in an interview about Roger. I know Roger is not a saint, but because of him Stan got a gold medal (which is not possible for everyone and what would be hard for him to achieve on his own) and because of Roger's play in my country Holland, Switzerland is still in the world group. Like I just wrote, Roger is not a saint, but he does not deserve that a team mate says things like this about him in the media. Because Roger will be blaimed

"his Majesty" was the nick name RF got in Colombia

Roger, his Majesty, left Bogotá to land in Zurich and receive the Swiss Sports Award 2012!

He did it for the 5th time, a new record in Switzerland.

Roger, glad you got home safely. You are a terrific ambassador, a world phenomenon who has brought so much joy to all your fans in south America, and to those others who could watch each match on your You Tube channel. I can't thank you enough for giving everybody such joy and laughter. It has been fabulous to see you enjoying yourself so much. Your Christmas present to us is in having the videos to watch again and again.
Have a lovely Christmas with your family. xxx
