Switzerland - France: 1:1

22.11.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

After Stan opening the Davis Cup rubber with a victory today, Roger was not able to secure the second point for the Swiss team. After his 1-6, 4-6, 3-6 defeat Switzerland and France end the first day 1-1.

With a record of 27'432 spectators at a Davis Cup encounter, Roger did not find his way into the match in Lille. Monfils played very well and served excellently. Roger was not able to react accordingly and had to admit defeat after 1h 46min of play.

On the program for tomorrow is the doubles between Marco Chiudinelli/Michael Lammer and Julien Benneteau/Richard Gasquet. On Sunday, the plan is for Roger to play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and then Stan to meet Gaël Monfils.

I understand very well the loss of this 1st match.
Happens to me, too, to not feel so confident when we start our interclub encounters just after the winter (indoors) season. Play on sand is nice, but not the first day(s)!
But chances are still there!

GO SWITZERLAND !

That would be a superb ending to an already amazing year. At 33 being so close to number 1 and getting to 11 finals. Just incredible. I think he loses it will be a slightly negative end to his year and itwill be important that he ends the season with confidence for 2015.

That's true polishrogerfan, but I feel normally he sounds a bit more positive. It is indeed a very good thing that he can play without enormous pressure, even though I think he will put the pressure on himself to win, I think he will be disappointed with himself if he loses both his singles matches, he wants to feel that is is his title, which it would be even if Stan would need to win the decisive rubber. Just hope that he plays - provided he is able to - and wins, that would be a superb ending
