In round 2 with ease
Roger opened his 2013 Australian Open quest with a straight-sets win against Benoît Paire today.
"I'm happy, he's a good player, good talent and I have not played a match this season yet so I wasn't sure and that's why you're relieved when you're through the first one," Roger said.
It was Roger's first match on the Tour since the ATP World Tour finals in London in November, and he showed no real signs of rustiness, breaking the Frenchman six times and serving solidly himself to secure a 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 win.
Competing in his 53rd straight Grand Slam, Roger is bidding to become only the second player after Australia's Roy Emerson (six titles from 1961-1967) to win five Australian Open titles. Our champ could regain the number one spot should he win this year's Australian Open while Novak Djokovic would drop out before the semi-finals.

Go Go Go Roger !!!
Hold the trophy
Experience counts! but at times you cannot depend on it. The circumstances keep on changing, and if you play your best, mixing up your game, to suit the conditions, you would be in the final, either to win or lose! I think you need to play your best tennis considering the experience that you have in this tournament. GOOD LUCK !!! HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
i wish u regain back the top spot...it's where u belong!!
