Roger advances

Roger eased into round three of the Australian Open with a 6-3 6-4 6-4 victory over Russian Nikolay Davydenko. 

 

Roger was in charge right from the start and broke his opponent in the sixth game to take the opening set in 42 minutes. He continued just that way and never faced a break himself throughout the entire match. 

 

Our champ will now face the Aussie crowd favourite Bernard Tomic, whom he beat in straight sets in the second round of last year's Australian Open. "It's nice to see Bernard playing better again. He had a rough end to the season last year, but he's had a wonderful start this year and I hope he can keep it up and crack the big rankings. It's going to be an exciting match. I have got to play tough. I don't mind the physical aspects and maybe that is an advantage for me. I will always play aggressively but we will try to move each other around a bit so it will need a bit more finesse,"  said Roger.

I was holding my breath so long that I almost fainted. OMG what a match. Now I hope he shuts up at least for a while. Fantastic !! Beyond words. Thank you so much.

Hi everyone, I am an Australian and I am proud to admit that I was wholeheartedly in Roger's corner. The hype that we (as Australians) have had to endure over this match has been unbelievable and I am extremely glad that Roger dished out a master class to end all master classes. GO ROGER!!!! Win number 18.
