Roger advances

17.01.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger eased into round three of the Australian Open with a 6-3 6-4 6-4 victory over Russian Nikolay Davydenko.

Roger was in charge right from the start and broke his opponent in the sixth game to take the opening set in 42 minutes. He continued just that way and never faced a break himself throughout the entire match.

Our champ will now face the Aussie crowd favourite Bernard Tomic, whom he beat in straight sets in the second round of last year's Australian Open. "It's nice to see Bernard playing better again. He had a rough end to the season last year, but he's had a wonderful start this year and I hope he can keep it up and crack the big rankings. It's going to be an exciting match. I have got to play tough. I don't mind the physical aspects and maybe that is an advantage for me. I will always play aggressively but we will try to move each other around a bit so it will need a bit more finesse,"  said Roger.

Well Roger, time to turnv on the engines, unti,l now you have been playing impressive tennis but just at half speed, now it is time to start increasing the amount of killer forehands to throw the rivals to the backcourt and destroy them in the net. Cheering for you at 100% and staying up late for all your matches.

very low humidity which I daresay caused some of the balls to float hither & thither resulting in a few 'miss hits'
Wishing you all of the very best for next match
Kindest regards

Hello Roger
Congratulations on a great win--thoroughly enjoyed the match--full credit to Nikolay he never gives up-- chases every ball as though his life depends on it.
In the opening games of the match those deft 1/2 volleys off your B/H were virtually floating AND that B/H winner up the line to bring up match point in the 6th game amazing--did not win then but later.
For those who were not fortunate enough to be sitting in RL Arena it was a very hot dry night-- court temp 30 @ 8pm
