Out against Murray

25.01.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Yet another scintillating, exciting and very brave game from the racquet of our Roger – unfortunately this time the result could not match his tennis. He has lost to Andy Murray 4-6, 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-6(2), 2-6 in an absorbing and enthralling game of tennis.

This time it did not look as though Murray would be the loser right from the start of the first set which he took comfortably 6-4. Having said that our champ made him fight hard for his victory by taking the 2nd and 4th sets with tiebreaks. After a really hard fought battle with Murray dominating most of the match it was only our Roger’s brilliance that kept him alive – that and an indomitable spirit that refuses to give in when most other players would be swamped. By the 5th set though it seemed our champ had given his all and Murray took only 35 minutes from a 4 hour match to close out the final set 6-2.  From the cheering during the match it seemed at times as though he was playing the match in Basel and not in Melbourne plus Roger was given a standing ovation when he left the court. Murray now faces Djokovic in the final on Sunday.

FANCYFREE DISLOYALTIY HAS NOTING TO DO WHEN A PLAYER IS THE BETTER
ONE THESE DAYS. EVEN FEDERER KNOWS THIS.

@Boting

You're right, it won't be easy to beat Nole, however why is it that when Roger is seeded 1 he is drawn against 3 and when he is seeded 2 he still gets 3? Luck of the draw right? Could have been different had Roger drawn Ferrer in the semis whilst Andy and Nole battled a 5 setter in the other semi. Just saying ...

Anyway Roger was amazing throughout the tournament and was sorely missed in that final (yawn)

"TO BE SHORT NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO BEAT DJOKOVIC THIS SEASON"

Eh that' remark is very disloyal to Roger!

Our Beautiful Warrior Roger: With the draw u had, described by someone as Star-studded, every match hyped up to the sky, u had to battle physically & mentally and you gave us spectacular AO13 to remember. I only saw the 4th set of the SF, your breaking back at 5-6 and winning the TB to even the match 2-2 took my breath away,I'm happy u received the love in deafening roars from the crowd. We are so proud of you Roger and missing those dancing pink shoelaces:)

it was really painful draw. all players had 5setters lost their next game except no
vak .sometime it shows how important the draw is,
,,it was crucial i wish roger would win at least 20 majors but i worry his physical and stamina,,,,so sad see you soon

Thank you Roger for the great AO. I love watching you play and without your aces you just came short against Murray. Great tennis and I enjoyed it immensely.
