Out against Benneteau

15.02.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was shocked by Julien Benneteau in the quarter finals of Rotterdam today, losing to the Frenchman 3-6, 5-7.

Roger did not seem his usual self, battling with ill-timed double faults and a bad rhythm in general. Benneteau secured three service breaks, while dropping just one to clearly lead the match. It was only at 2-4 in the second set that Roger finally scored a break after being able to hold serve. Unfortunately he struggled with his serve again at 5-6 and finally had to admit defeat after too many errors including another double fault.

Next up for Roger are the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, starting on February 25th.

Things obviously weren't right this tournament - the serve is always an indicator. No doubt we'll learn more when the next biography appears. When Roger's on form he's still after all this time the player to beat and wonderful to watch.
All best wishes for the rest of the year - your fans love you xx

Hi Roger so sorry for your loss to Julien. He is still a fine player and it seems he took advantage of you being below your best, perhaps. And sometimes tennis, like life, is like this.

All the best for Dubai and am sure you will do well,

Mike

Benneteau always has your number Roger:) Yet is better to lose to him in this sort of tournament than in GS (Wimby 2012:). Yesterday you had a bad day. Looking forward to Dubai. all best

Dear Roger,
Oh well.....this is tennis, right?Sometimes we fail. But we fail is because we can pick up ourselves again......pick yourself up Roger! I'm looking forward to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. Vamos Maestro:)

Nowadays with all the resources available to athletes and everybody else for that matter there's no issue about age anymore. Specially Federer who's in great shape. He can play until 40 if he still enjoys playing by then. We're not in the 80's. Wake up you guys!!! STOP THIS AGE NONSENSE!!!!!
