Quarters in Dubai

27.02.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger was sharp and has obviously shaken off the dust of his first round match as he dispatched the Spaniard Granollers 6-3,6-4 today in Dubai. The final score perhaps did not tell the whole story as there were times when Granoller put up a spirited defence and our champ had to work to fashion his victory but he was always in control. This was seen in the 5th game of the second set where a particularly fine rally took place in the centre of the court that needed all of Roger’s instinctive play. Roger broke Granollers in the 7th game and and then in the 9th game Granollers held on to save 2 match points. Our champ served up 3 aces to set up the winning game in the second set. He now goes into the quarter finals where his next opponent is Davydenko.

I know it is easy for all of us at home to judge you, but you deserve to win so much. You are number 2 in the world right now and although Novak is like 3000 or 4000 points ahead of you, I KNOW YOU CAN BECOME WORLD NUMBER 1 AT THE END OF THIS YEAR !!! Please Roger, fight. You are playing less tours, so please fight for each point, game and match. Don't let something like Rotterdam happen again. YOU DON'T DESERVE TO LOSE AND GO OUT LIKE THAT. You are too good of a tennisplayer for that.

Please Roger, find the strenght to fight more. It seems like you lost the hunger to fight. It is still there, but not like last year. I HOPE TO GOD THAT I AM WRONG. But Roger, I love you too much to see this. Since USO 2012 you seem to lost the appetite to win from these guys. It was back at the WTF Final and at AO 2013. But I think you gave it your all at the AO SF and when you lost, something in you lost too. Your will to do what it takes. I love you, but losing to Benneteau???

Please don't see me as a fan who is happy when you win and disappointed when you lose. I know some of your fans say bad things about you when you lose. I am not one of those. I just think you deserve so much and I want to see you win more, because you DESERVE it. Last year you had a goal (Wimby, world number 1 and Olympic medal). Because you had that goal, you MADE it happen. But this year you haven't set yourself a real goal. maybe that it why it SEEMS that you are not so interested.

Hi Roger, saw some points from yesterday's match. They were amazing. You were amazing. I agree with Yukimi. You seemed to be a little annoyed. I also noticed at Rotterdam, like you were not that interested. Maybe losing the AO SF did you more harm mentally than you atmitted. Please come out of it and come into the zone. I love you too much to see you lose again. Because you won Wimby and became world number 1 last year because you wanted it and made it your goal. PLEASE DO THAT AGAIN.

I'll be happy if you beat Djokovich. After that you have a great time with your family and rest!
Thanks a lot for your dedication in this sport!

DEAREST ROG,
I KNOW YOU WILL SAY FIRSTLY WIN THE MATCH THEN SECONDLY USE IT TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR DJOKO WHERE YOU'LL HAVE NEW TRICKS UP YOUR SLEEVE.

GOOD!! GO FOR IT!

WATCHED YOU PLAY LAST NIGHT - YOU SEEMED TO BE ANNOYED, SOMEWHAT TWITCHY IN THE SECOND.

PLEASE STAY CALM - THAT'S HOW YOU WON THOSE 17 SLAMS - ENJOY YOURSELF WHILE YOU'RE AT IT - THAT'S WHY YOU PLAY!!

YUKIMI

Hello Roger
Well done for reaching reaching the QFs--we particularly enjoyed your 1st match watching you battle the wind, an unknown but a very good player and 1st round of the tournament--superb tennis/tactics
Good luck against Davydenko who is a man that never gives up!
Kindest regards
