Out against Berdych

01.03.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Sorry to say that Roger lost in the semi finals of the Dubai Open to Tomas Berdych. In the first set he was strong and positive winning 6-3, then followed a score line  of 6-7(8), 4-6 to see the match finish in favour of Berdych. The tiebreaker in the second set was back & forth with Berdych coming out the eventual winner – at one point our Champ was 5-4 in the tiebreak but could not convert this in to a set win. Berdych then upped his game and went on to win the 3rd set 6-4 helped by some untypical Roger errors. "Pity to lose that one, but Tomas did well to hang in there," Roger said. "Obviously I leave this match with a lot of regrets. "You do all the right things for so long, and then at the end you've got to explain why you didn't hit two shots decent," he said. "So it's disappointing."

It's better than losing to Djoko in the finals..

It's getting really tiring for us "old people" watching our beloved Roger having to slug it out against Murray/Djokovic/Nadal in the finals and Tsonga/Del Potro/Berdych in the semis.., but we can't help it, so we watch and hope and wish you all the best mister federer

You went to South Afr for your foundation, you did extremely good work there and it is important that you also make time for that too. You touched and helped so many lived, you will be blessed for that.
Please, no other distractions in your two month break, no more commercials, no nothing else, maybe one week of holiday with Mirka and the twins.
You need to practise and take care of your back if you want to win after May. Because lets face it, even Rafa looks incredible strong and his usual sel

I am glad (ofcourse also extremely sad) that you will take a two month break to practise. And please Roger, do that and only that. Practise and take care of your back, which seems to get worse since beginning 2013 and is unfortunately getting more worse. Just do that, practise, practise, practise, take care of your back, your health and your diet (just like the other ones). And please..... no commercials or other distractions. You went to SA for your foundation, for which you will be blessed.

Darling. Roger !!
It is truly painful to watch you lose! especially when you were so close to a win !

Nevertheless , you are and always will be the most spectacular player ever !!!

I hope you are not feeling bad, no point! Just look forward and take time out with your beautiful family, gear up for the next challenge and always remember that
Whatever happens, nobody can ever take away your incredible achievements to date.

and I'm praying you will win a G. Slam this year!!

Don't get me wrong Roger, I am not abandoning you, but one week practise is really too short to win IW when everybody will be there again, especially a wellrested and fully practised Andy. So I won't we hoping for you to win. If you do...... you will have showed me, your fleeying from you-fans, the haters and critics wrong. But I like the fact that you will take two months off to practise.
Don't hate me, Roger fans on this site, I don't want him to lose IW, but it does not look good.

Roger, I love you no matter a win or loss, I am always in your corner and always behind you. I respect the fact that you gave it your everything. So I am also alloud to say this... It pains me, but I don't think you will win IW. Novak, Berdych, Tsonga, Delpo, the younger ones and especially Andy (after a six/seven weeks practise time) will be there. You will have just one week to practise. So I unfortunately don't think it will happen, but after that you will have two months to practise.

A tough loss. If you could of pulled out the match during the tie breaker. Oh, well get ready for Indian Wells, hopefully there will be a different result. Congrats for making it to the semis. Berdych is tough and tricky.

Well, you did a good thing also........... you handed Novak his win.
When you would have played the final, Novak would really have to work.
By losing to Berdych and by keeping him playing for over two hours you just made Novak's life easier. Berdych cannot and won't win from Novak.
Like they say, Novak owns him. The score..... 6-2 and 6-2.
That final will be so one sided, it is not even worth to watch.

Like I wrote, today you played extremely well, but you lost. You were so close. It is not like you got destroyed or anything. You really played well.
When you lost the QF in Rotterdam, that was worse. Because that was really not your day. Nothing seemed to work, really nothing. Easy shots, difficult shots, shots you never miss, etc. But you kept playing for us, your Dutch fans. That is what a gem a diamond you really are. Today you played extremely well Roger and you deserved to win.

Hi Roger, I wrote all my comments on the article before. You played terrific, unfortunately so did Berdych. What is it with these guys (Berdych, Del Potro, Tsonga, etc.) they always lose to Novak/Andy/Rafa, but to you they somehow remember that they are good tennisplayers and they bring their A-game??? Really, they always lose to the other three, but when they play you, they play like tennisgods. Something they are not, YOU are the tennisgod, Roger.
Today you played extremely well, but you lost.
