Out against Berdych

01.03.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Sorry to say that Roger lost in the semi finals of the Dubai Open to Tomas Berdych. In the first set he was strong and positive winning 6-3, then followed a score line  of 6-7(8), 4-6 to see the match finish in favour of Berdych. The tiebreaker in the second set was back & forth with Berdych coming out the eventual winner – at one point our Champ was 5-4 in the tiebreak but could not convert this in to a set win. Berdych then upped his game and went on to win the 3rd set 6-4 helped by some untypical Roger errors. "Pity to lose that one, but Tomas did well to hang in there," Roger said. "Obviously I leave this match with a lot of regrets. "You do all the right things for so long, and then at the end you've got to explain why you didn't hit two shots decent," he said. "So it's disappointing."

Close match Roger, sorry it didn't go your way. Tomas is much improved temperamentally and court-wise (unfortunately) and sure hasn't lost any power. Hope that Indian Wells will be a good tournament for you this year. Lots of love to you, Mirka and everyone close to you. xxx

Roger, we all know how you need rest and time to just go out of tennis a while, and come back to practice. Don't worry, our boy. Waiting for you, when you feel it will be time. God bless you, Roger!

Sorry you lost the match, Rog. Like some of the fans, I thought you would win. But this was not a bad loss. It was clear that you were hurting. I know you will not admit it, but you were grimacing and wincing at times; also reaching to the middle of your back between points. But you are a true champ and fought all the way in spite of all that And I admire and respect you more for that. One more title to defend in IW and you can have a longer break to heal and recuperate. :-

Roger, you played a fantastic tournament and it sucks you lost that way but that's tennis. I guess another title in Dubai was not meant to be this year. Rest, take care and all the best for Indian Wells. Hopefully you'll get your revenge against Berdych soon enough.
Love always,

We are all upset Roger , we want you back at No1 again this year but sorry you're missing big points against tough guys , remembering djoko US open for 2 consecutive years , and this time tonight! there are two options champ : 1.relax and play your game and let them be aggressive until they miss it
2. fully concentrated and focused on every ball . choose one of them of a time and u get back where u really belong ;world number 1;

Roger it was a pity but I also believe you should have won the match. Anyway, what is done is done and I just want to say that I'm still a proud fan no matter what people say or what happpens. I know you had been really working hard to improve and that you'll keep doing that because of that fighting spirit you got and we all love to see on court.
Now you must rest and prepare to show us that amazing tennis style you got, I know you'll be better at Indian Wells... ;)
Love and a big hug, Maia

A shame you lost the match Roger. Berdych is becoming a real stumbling block and i hope you can put the loss behind you and onwards to Indian Wells. See you then x.
