Out against Berdych

01.03.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Sorry to say that Roger lost in the semi finals of the Dubai Open to Tomas Berdych. In the first set he was strong and positive winning 6-3, then followed a score line  of 6-7(8), 4-6 to see the match finish in favour of Berdych. The tiebreaker in the second set was back & forth with Berdych coming out the eventual winner – at one point our Champ was 5-4 in the tiebreak but could not convert this in to a set win. Berdych then upped his game and went on to win the 3rd set 6-4 helped by some untypical Roger errors. "Pity to lose that one, but Tomas did well to hang in there," Roger said. "Obviously I leave this match with a lot of regrets. "You do all the right things for so long, and then at the end you've got to explain why you didn't hit two shots decent," he said. "So it's disappointing."

Dear Roger
I was disappointed that you lost against Berdych but I will be coming to Indian Wells and will enjoy watching you there and hope you can successfully defend your title. I also look forward to seeing you play on the first day at Wimbledon. Enjoy your lovely family.

Hi Roger, I love you for all you are; all you have done and are doing in and out of tennis courts. I watch all your matches and live the moments with hope, anxiety, excitement, and appreciation of your mastery. I don't feel those same emotions when I watch others.

What I have observed is that when first serves fail, the player loses half the battle. Your most losses are no exception. Does exist any method or practice to ensure high first serve percentage? No one will be able to beat you then.

Good Afternoon, Roger! Here's wishing you and your family all the very best.

I know that you were very disappointed after your match with Tomas but somehow he just seems to play a notch higher than norm. You are the very best ever and I wish you all the best in Indian Wells. I know that you can take a couple of majors and I am hoping to see you at #1 again.

Take care,
Carole

errors that can not be committed, it is happening every time .. if you can not decentralize, have to be firm until the end of the game ending. focus and will to win up to you and only you can stop it roger. their posture within the court determined that happen .. god bless you

Hello Roger,
It's a pity that you didn't get to the final to defend your title, but in the end Thomas was a little bit better on Friday. At the top it is allways about 1 or 2 points that could have been played differently or even better and the differences between the top players are small. Too bad Berdych couldn't pull a stunt against Novak in the Final, but that was to be expected.
I wish you a good flight to Indian Wells and all the best of luck for the tournament there.
